About Us
Accountable to
the mission. Full stop.
Uncivilised Media is a CIC based in Bolton. The legal structure is the substance. It means the money stays in the mission, the content stays independent, and the doors stay open to the people who need them.
Mission & Values
Why we exist.
We watched too many important projects settle for a shaky phone video because nothing else was affordable. Good storytelling shifts what people believe is real. The organisations doing the hardest work deserve the same tools as the ones with marketing budgets.
Legal Structure
The legal structure
that makes this real.
A CIC limited by guarantee. That means: annual Community Interest Reports, asset lock, no distribution to founders. These aren't aspirational. They're legally binding.
The Asset Lock
All assets remain within the CIC framework. In the event of dissolution, assets transfer to another CIC or charitable organisation. Never to founders or commercial entities.
Editorial Independence
No funder, partner, or commercial entity influences our content or conclusions. This is a structural commitment, not a policy preference.
Financial Controls
- No single team member can approve expenditure above £1,000
- Contracts above £5,000 require dual senior oversight approval
- Grant funds are ring-fenced for specific project activities
The Team
Senior Oversight.
Safeguarding Policy
